QTCCm: From Quantitative Trait Correlation to Causation in dairy cattle – using transcriptome and metabolome data .
We are seeking for a highly motivated PhD candidate, who will conduct innovative research based on large multi-omics (genomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic) datasets with the ultimate goal of gaining deeper insight into the metabolic pathways underlying the interrelationship between milk yield and fertility, health, and longevity traits in dairy cattle and to identify and to characterize classes of causal variants which are the drivers of the genetic correlations and causalities between these trait complexes. The work will be done in close cooperation with partners at other Universities.
We offer a PhD position for the duration of 3 years at the Georg-August-University Göttingen, which encompasses the work with innovative methods from the fields of genetics, genomics and biology informed breeding. The candidate will benefit from a friendly and international atmosphere and a tailored education program.
Your profile:
- M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Animal Sciences, Veterinary Medicine or related fields including Biology and Bioinformatics
- Strong interest and ideally proven skills in handling and analysing omics data
- Strong communication skills
Proficiency in English
