At the Berlin site, Biosynth GmbH carries out contract development and manufacturing in the field of bioconjugation and polymer-based drug delivery. The company has a manufacturing authorisation in accordance with §13 AMG.

In the chemical synthesis department, manufacturing processes for functionalised polymers are developed, scaled up and standardised for GMP-compliant production. We are looking for an experienced synthesis chemist to head this department at the Berlin site at the earliest possible date.

Your Tasks

After an intensive induction and familiarisation phase, you will be responsible for managing the department with five employees. The focus will be on the development and optimisation of multi-step organic syntheses and the associated analytics. Your tasks will include in particular:

• Route finding for customised substances
• Development of scalable synthesis processes
• Carrying out syntheses on a 0.5 L to 50 L scale
• Process development and optimisation
• Transfer of development projects to GMP production
• Technical guidance of employees
• Support with budget and schedule planning
• Communication with the customer
• Creation of reports

You will work closely with the management in Berlin and support the sales team in preparing offers for customer projects.

Your Profile

• University degree and doctorate in organic chemistry, specialising in polymer synthesis would be an advantage
• Knowledge of bioconjugation, functionalisation of polymers and polymerisation is advantageous
• Extensive professional experience in a similar field, ideally with personnel responsibility
• Ideally, working experience in a contract development and/or manufacturing organisation
• Technical understanding and ability to plan and carry out multi-stage syntheses independently
• Interest in familiarising yourself with customer issues and developing customised solutions
• Very good command of English
• Ability to present results to customers and write reports
• Enjoy customer contact in an international environment
