(Senior) Category Manager Non-Clinical Development

This position is part time eligible with at least 80 %.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Strategic strength, persuasiveness and assertiveness: You develop, negotiate and implement sourcing strategies for your global categories (Nonclinical Development Services in Human Pharma & Animal Health for New Chemical Entities (NCEs), New Biological Entities (NBEs) & ATMPs) that will set new standards with regards to speed to market, sustainable sourcing decision, competitive sourcing and productivity.
  • Through the implementation of sophisticated category strategies and proactive supplier management, your objective is to ensure a reliable supply, resulting in revenue growth, while also closely monitoring supply markets and devising inventive solutions to contribute to both top and bottom line, as well as optimize supply processes.
  • You are in charge of leading cross-functional project teams, consisting of local Sourcing Managers, Sourcing Specialists, and internal business partners, to implement innovative processes that will result in external cost improvement.
  • Through constant observation and exploration of your global sourcing markets, you bring potential innovation to BI and gather market intelligence for your category.
  • For supply related risks, you liaise closely with internal business partners and local purchasers, to identify, evaluate and classify sourcing risks and devise risk mitigation measures.
As Senior Category Manager, you additionally take over the following tasks:
  • You are driving sourcing projects with your strong understanding of pharmaceutical research and development processes as well as in-depth knowledge of the global CRO / C(D)MO market.
  • Furthermore, will be involved in complex negotiations in close collaboration with the head of category.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree or Diploma in natural science or business administration is required, along with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical research and development processes
  • Several years of experience in contracting / sourcing / purchasing in nonclinical or clinical development and/or research services in international markets
  • Experience in strategic vendor management having a long-term history of working with GxP,
  • Comprehensive understanding of the global CRO / C(D)MO market for pharmaceutical development and / or research services, paired with experience in complex category strategies, stakeholder management, and risk management
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements, e.g., GxP
  • A person with exceptional internal and external relationship management skills, characterized by an open-minded, motivated, persuasive, and perseverant personality
  • Exhibiting a willingness to travel occasionally (max. 20% of your working time) and having fluency in English; knowledge of German or other languages is an asset
As Senior Category Manager, additionally:
  • Long-term experience in contracting / sourcing / purchasing in nonclinical or clinical development and/or research services in international markets
