Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
Summary
The Manager Facilities is responsible for managing all local efforts related to facility improvement, expansion planning, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and environmental health concepts. Plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications including estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs. Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, and facilities expansion. Serves as liaison between the company and local municipalities and agencies related to facilities activities. Has responsibility for establishing and overseeing health and safety standards. This includes leading the local facilities and safety teams, negotiating service contracts, establishing facility and safety metrics for corporate sustainment, maintaining appropriate staffing levels within group/s assigned, and maintaining adherence to regulatory standards.
Responsibilities: - Manages facilities team and contractors with a focus on domestic facility expansions.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and laws as applicable to facilities and safety efforts.
- Maintains proper staffing and contractor levels to support business needs.
- Guarantees timely communication across multiple levels of the organization on facilities and / or safety related issues and/or to gain appropriate approvals when needed.
- Negotiate service contracts and manage these contracts to ensure the expected level of service is being received.
- Works with the operations, finance, and leaders to provide detailed financial analysis on expansion opportunities including space needs for future growth.
- Reports data on a weekly and /or monthly basis as requested or required.
- Ensures the proper operation and maintenance of security systems and equipment, including control card access, surveillance, fire alarm, and other systems.
- Works with security consultant to assess effectiveness of the security function, and recommend upgrades, repairs, and system improvements.
- Develops and/or identifies new work processes and the improved utilization of human and material resources within the assigned or related functions or groups; facilitates others' participation in the continuous improvement program; investigates and solves problems that impact work processes and personnel within or across units or department.
- Develops and communicates a vision for the organizational unit assigned.
- Regularly inspect buildings, sites and equipment for needed repair/maintenance.
- Respond as on/call for all emergencies.
- Develop and ensure execution of facilities maintenance operating procedures.
- Source local services and goods needed to perform day to day operations through 3rd party suppliers via the agencies’ approved vendors.
- Maintain Safety and Security programs for Clients/Employees/Staff. These programs include access control and alarm systems, employee identification, visitor access, etc.
- Provides oversight and ownership for intrusion detection and response.
- Performs other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned.
Education and Qualifications: - Experience in a regulated environment required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety or similar discipline required.
- Minimum of 7 years’ security and/or safety work experience in large, rapid growth site(s); including a minimum of three (3) years in people management, managerial and policy making experience in the security/safety field.
- Is an experienced leader with very good leadership skills.
- Prior knowledge or experience in contracting and/or negotiating required.
- Six Sigma certification preferred.
Required Skills
- Has working knowledge of police, fire, medical, and other emergency service provider procedures in responding to emergency incidents.
- Has working knowledge in preparing operational budgets.
Language Ability
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The individual in this job will manage employees in the Facilities and Safety functions.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.
