The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is engaged in scientific field work and its main goal is to build partnerships and communicate with external clinical and non-clinical stakeholders (physicians, pharmacists, hospital managers, board members of scientific societies and other stakeholders) on an equal footing about disease states, trends in patient treatment and discuss studies in the areas in which we operate and our products to be seen as a trustworthy scientific contact and partner
Main responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and maintain current clinical knowledge and published data and studies on the Company's products, attend scientific meetings and conferences, and inform the Medical and Marketing teams of findings/new information.
- Providing accurate and ad-free scientific information about approved and unapproved products and indications in response to unsolicited requests from healthcare professionals.
- Respond to medical/technical inquiries from healthcare professionals by obtaining, evaluating, and presenting quality information from internal and external sources promptly.
- Identify and map the key experts for potential collaboration projects and develop a plan to best collaborate with the experts and build long-term relationships.
- Mutual scientific exchange at eye level to support and further develop customers' expertise in our clients products and therapeutic areas and thus support patient care.
- Speaker training and support for healthcare professionals to maintain knowledge within the medical community about new therapies developed and marketed by our client.
- Identify and pursue potential research opportunities consistent with drug development objectives through the promotion of clinical research (e.g. non-interventional studies, registries, epidemiological projects, preclinical or translational research) in consultation with the Medical TA and the relevant business unit managers.
- Collaborate with external/internal research colleagues and medical advisors to support clinical sites and provide feasibility and site recommendations by guidelines, internal policies and regulations.
- At the request of the investigator: Mediation between potential researchers and the company in the submission of IST studies (Investigator Sponsored Studies).
- Managing the contracting process for TIGs.
- Provide medical support, training and cross-functional work (i.e. disease state and product) to colleagues (e.g. sales representatives, etc.) as required.
- Support Market Access Team activities as required.
- Gain insights into the company through mutual scientific exchange at eye level to support strategy and future product or pipeline development.
- Compliance with applicable data protection and compliance policies and the Code of Conduct.
Requirements:
- The ability to understand, process, communicate and present scientific information at a high level.
- Good knowledge of the clinical trial process and research infrastructure in the country in which the position is located.
- Project Management Skills - Ability to complete complex tasks within time frames and manage milestones.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation skills and advanced presentation skills.
- IT knowledge, particularly in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently in the field while contributing positively to the central Medical Affairs and Global Brand teams.
- External and internal customer focus with strong networking skills and integration with healthcare professionals to ensure opportunities for local healthcare.
- Highest ethical standards and good knowledge of industry standards including relevant codes of conduct.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
- MD/Physician, PharmD, Pharmacist, PhD and other life sciences with solid medical/technical background and demonstrated competencies in influence, clinical research insight, business and market knowledge.
- Experience as a medical-scientific contact person in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable, preferably in the area of rare diseases/oncology.
- Strong knowledge of rare disease and familiarity with relevant treatment guidelines.
- Fluent command of German and English (oral and written), Knowledge of French is welcome.
